- 1 cup Apples peeled and chopped
- 1 cup Milk dairy or non-dairy
- 1 Tablespoon Sugar substitute with honey or maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
- few Ice cubes
Peeling and chopping - Start with peeling the apples. It is completely optional, but my son likes his smoothie smooth and hence I always peel the apples. Core them and chop them into chunks.
1 cup Apples
Blend - Add the chopped apples, sugar, milk, ice cubes, and cinnamon powder into a high-speed blender jar and grind until smooth. I usually start off with half the milk and then eventually add more to adjust the consistency of the smoothie.
1 cup Milk, 1 Tablespoon Sugar, 1 teaspoon Cinnamon, few Ice cubes, 1 cup Apples
Pour and sip - Pour the smoothie into glasses and garnish with more cinnamon powder and sip away!
Optional add-ins
- Protein powder - When I am making the apple smoothie for breakfast or for my boys before a game, I usually add in whey protein. It is a great way to fortify the smoothie with protein.
- Oats - To keep us filled up longer, oats are a great addition to smoothies. Oats work great in adding fiber to our diet as well and along with apples, it is a wonderful breakfast option.
- Nuts - Pecans or walnuts would be great to add as a topping for crunch. I like to toast the nuts a little when using them as a garnish. I also soak a few almonds and grind them along with the apple for a more creamy smoothie.
- Banana - Banana is always a wonderful addition to any smoothie and I always have them in hand. I also freeze my bananas usually for smoothies and that can be added instead of ice in the smoothie.
- Berries - Throw in a handful of blueberry or strawberry to add more flavor and also some color to the apple smoothie.
- Flaxseed meal or chia seeds - Both of these are packed with omega-3s, protein, and fiber.
- Yogurt - I have used just milk in my apple milkshake, but we could use half milk and half yogurt to add probiotics to the smoothie.
