Apple cinnamon smoothie or Apple milkshake is a must-try drink if you are an apple lover! It is one of our favorite way to enjoy the apple in summer. Make this apple smoothie for breakfast, a snack, or a refreshing cooler on a hot summer day.
Apple is one of the fruits I always have in hand. When it gets too boring for the boys to eat apples as is, I make it as a milkshake for them. Most of the time, I keep it simple with just the fruit, milk (dairy or non-dairy), cinnamon, and some sweetener.
And the best part, we can include as many add-ins as we like depending on our mood. I will discuss in detail how versatile this cinnamon apple smoothie recipe is. This smoothie is refreshing and easy to make in less than 5 minutes.

Ingredients needed
Apple - Use any kind of apple you have in hand. I usually have Gala or Fuji and that is what I have used today.
Cinnamon - We will be using ground cinnamon.
Sweetener - Depending on how sweet the apple is we can adjust the amount of sweetener or even skip. I use honey or sugar, but we can use maple syrup, brown sugar, or even dates.
Milk - I used dairy milk to make the apple smoothie. We could use non-dairy milk as well. I personally like almond milk or soy milk.
Ice - Use a little ice when making the milkshake/smoothie to make it creamy and also to chill.
Optional apple cinnamon smoothie additions
Protein powder - When I am making the apple smoothie for breakfast or for my boys before a game, I usually add in whey protein. It is a great way to fortify the smoothie with protein.
Oats - To keep us filled up longer, oats are a great addition to smoothies. Oats work great in adding fiber to our diet as well and along with apples, it is a wonderful breakfast option.
Nuts - Pecans or walnuts would be great to add as a topping for crunch. I like to toast the nuts a little when using them as a garnish. I also soak a few almonds and grind them along with the apple for a more creamy smoothie.
Banana - Banana is always a wonderful addition to any smoothie and I always have them in hand. I also freeze my bananas usually for smoothies and that can be added instead of ice in the smoothie.
Berries - Throw in a handful of blueberry or strawberry to add more flavor and also some color to the apple smoothie.
Flaxseed meal or chia seeds - Both of these are packed with omega-3s, protein, and fiber.
Yogurt - I have used just milk in my apple milkshake, but we could use half milk and half yogurt to add probiotics to the smoothie.
Granola - One of my favorite toppings for apple smoothies is this homemade peanut butter granola. It adds a lovely crunch and flavor.
How to make cinnamon apple smoothie
Peeling and chopping - Start with peeling the apples. It is completely optional, but my son likes his smoothie smooth and hence I always peel the apples. Core them and chop them into chunks.
Blend - Add the chopped apples, sugar, milk, ice cubes, and cinnamon powder into a high-speed blender jar and grind until smooth. I usually start off with half the milk and then eventually add more to adjust the consistency of the smoothie.
Pour and sip - Pour the smoothie into glasses and garnish with more cinnamon powder and sip away!
